Chef Ashley
Hello world! My name is Ashley! I am a Private Chef and a yaadie living in St. Croix (a Jamaican living in St. Croix USVI). From one beautiful island to another. I love life and food. My style of cooking is fresh from the soul, meaning always using fresh ingredients to produce my dishes and cooking with lots of love. I have over 10 years of professional cooking experience and I am also a very capable baker, who runs a part time home-based bakery business. When I cook from my soul, that is when I hit my goal. I love to be told my food is amazing as this confirms that I am not just creating.
Food brings out my creativity when I get into the nitty gritty.
Fresh ingredients are what I prefer to work with.
They bring more flavor into the dish and fulfills every foodie’s wish.
I will present to you a masterpiece on a plate; a full belly will surely be your fate.
Do not take my word for it as I tell you how great my food is, the best thing to do will be to try it and eat every bit.
I cook because I have a love affair with food and fire.
I am a Chef whose talent is up for hire. I cook because it pleases me .
I cook because it allows me to BE!
Vacationing in the Virgin Islands is like no other and as such you should enjoy sand and sea with no worries about what to eat. Let me create a culinary experience you will not forget.

Self-taught and fearless, Chef Ralph Motta’s inspiration is derived from the cultures and traditions native to the island of St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands. Its rich history, blended with an ever-growing influx of diverse cultures, is responsible for the evolution of what he refers to as modern day Crucian cuisine.
Surrounded by living encyclopedias of cultural recipes and techniques, Chef Motta says, “While growing up on St. Croix it was impossible to be blind to the preparation of local cuisine.” He had his pick from family heirlooms, such as his grandmother Claire Motta’s mortar and pestle, which she used to produce “pound seasoning,” which is a staple ingredient in every savory Crucian dish, to his mother’s silver mixing bowls handed down to her by Grandma Ena. It is the history behind these pieces that have evoked a desire in Chef Motta to both preserve the culture and evolve the legacy while doing so.
Formally a trained fine artist, Pratt Institute grad Chef Motta finds himself compelled to experiment with an array of culinary techniques both traditional and contemporary. While paired with a passion to produce art, Chef Motta designs every dish by juxtaposing the modern aesthetic of contemporary abstraction with that of his traditional flavors. His style can be described as a fusion of Caribbean, French and American cuisines.
Located on St. Croix, Chef Motta is currently the Executive Chef at Motta Cuisine, a boutique catering company established in 2014. As well as the Executive chef at the Ha’ Penny Bay Beach Club.
Sponsored by the U.S. Virgin Islands Department of Tourism, Chef Motta was named the Culinary Ambassador for the USVI in both 2017 and 2018 consecutively.
